Wovoka Advisory works on natural capital — helping companies and institutions build nature-based strategies that hold up, and helping projects reach the point where they can be financed. We operate from Auckland, Los Angeles and Manila, with most of our fieldwork in the Philippines and Uganda.
Why we exist
Credibility starts with presence.
Our work spans landscapes and boardrooms. We think the lived reality of a project site and the strategic needs of a corporate sustainability team are the same problem viewed from two ends, and that most failures in this market come from only ever looking at one end.
So we show up in both. Mapping mangroves with the communities who use them, and sitting with sustainability teams working out what they can honestly claim.
Where we came from
An advisory built out of a developer.
Wovoka Advisory grew out of a project developer — the same group that originates restoration projects, works through tenure and consent with the communities who hold the land, and has had to fund that work before any project existed to charge it to.
Having to fund our own early-stage work changed what we think good advice looks like. We know which evidence unlocks capital and which merely reads as thorough.
